Terms of Use

Last updated 3 October 2026

These terms cover Word Decks and Word Dextreme, including their daily challenges, Word Decks practice mode, Extra Dextreme and shared account features. Please read them before using the games.

Word Decks is operated by David Richard Owens, an independent operator based in England, United Kingdom. For support, complaints or privacy requests, email hello@worddecks.com.

At launch

Word Decks is in public beta. Word Dextreme is in alpha testing: bugs, rough edges and changes to balance, rules and layout are especially likely. Points, bank balances, upgrades and rewards are game values, with no cash value and no right to a prize.

Who can use the games?

Use the games for personal, lawful entertainment. Accounts are for people aged 13 or over. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to help you understand these terms and your privacy choices. You can play as a guest; an account is needed for some saved results and social features.

Game rules, scoring and fair play

The rules and controls shown in each game explain how that mode works. Word Decks and Dextreme use different timing, upgrades and scoring; a word’s acceptance follows the game’s current dictionary and validation, rather than every possible dictionary.

Do not use bots or automated play to gain a leaderboard advantage, fabricate results, tamper with submissions, exploit a bug, bypass access controls or disrupt other players or the service. Normal assistive technology is welcome. Report an exploit privately rather than using it to obtain an advantage.

We may reject, correct or remove a result where there is a validation failure, technical error or reasonable evidence of manipulation. We may adjust affected streaks, trophies, league positions or rankings. Results are recreational and do not guarantee recognition or rewards. Contact us if you think a decision is wrong.

Free play and future features

The main Word Decks game is free to play. Word Dextreme is offered as a free alpha at launch, with any current attempt or mode limits shown in the game. We do not sell subscriptions or enable rewarded-ad providers as part of this launch.

If optional advertising, membership or paid features are introduced, we will explain the price, benefits, limits, duration, cancellation and any renewal terms before you opt in. These terms do not authorise a future charge or subscription. You can decline optional analytics and still play. External donation links are voluntary and do not purchase a game advantage or membership.

Availability, testing and changes

We aim to keep the games usable and secure, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every result will be saved. Maintenance, browser/device compatibility, network faults and bugs can affect play. Beta and alpha status do not remove your legal rights.

We may change rules, scoring, dictionaries, upgrades or modes to fix problems, improve balance or protect fair play. Historic results may need correction or a clearly identified leaderboard reset. We will explain significant changes where practical. If we withdraw a game or materially change these terms, we will give reasonable notice where possible; urgent security or legal issues may require immediate action. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights you already have.

Restrictions and ending an account

We may restrict an account, rename a username or remove content when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, fraud, abuse, security risk or a legal requirement. Our response should be proportionate. Where practical, we explain the reason and give you a way to ask for a review; we may act immediately for serious risks.

You can stop playing at any time and request account deletion using the Data Deletion page. Deleting an account affects both games and their shared history. It does not delete copies of share links or previews already held by other people or platforms.

Our content and your feedback

We or our licensors own the rights in the game code, graphics and other protected material. You may play the games and share results using the supplied tools. You may also share your own gameplay screenshots or recordings lawfully, respecting other people’s privacy and third-party rights. This does not transfer ownership of the games or permit copying or redistributing the service.

You keep any rights you have in feedback you send us. You give us non-exclusive permission to use it to investigate issues and improve the games, without a promise of payment or credit. Do not send material you lack permission to share, confidential information or unnecessary personal data.

External services and privacy

External social, donation and other websites have their own terms. We remain responsible for our own service and for obligations that the law places on us. Our Privacy Policy explains personal-data use; agreeing to these terms is not consent to optional analytics.

Responsibility when things go wrong

We take reasonable care in providing the service. If we breach these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result. These games are offered for personal use; we are not responsible for business losses from using them for commercial purposes.

Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any responsibility or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not exclude responsibility for our own failures simply because the games are free or in testing.

Complaints and applicable law

Send complaints to hello@worddecks.com. Include the game, issue and the outcome you seek. We will consider the complaint and explain our response.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove mandatory protections available where you live. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or in any other court available to you under applicable consumer law.
