Cookie Notice

This notice covers Word Decks and Word Dextreme, all their modes and shared pages. Cookies are small browser files; local storage, session storage and cached files also store information on your device.

Necessary and requested-feature storage

• Sign-in and security: wd_session keeps you signed in and wd_csrf protects account actions. Their default lifetime is 14 days; sign-in can renew it and signing out removes the session cookie.
• Guest play: wd_player recognises guest play for access and duplicate-submission checks. Its default lifetime is 180 days. This is separate from the optional analytics identifier.
• Privacy choice: wd_analytics_consent stores Allowed or Declined in a cookie and local storage. The cookie lasts up to a year and is renewed when the choice is read; the local copy persists until changed or cleared.
• Accessibility: wd_accessibility_theme, wd_accessibility_motion and wd_accessibility_sync_at remember your chosen colours, motion setting and account synchronisation. Preference cookies last up to a year; local storage persists until cleared or updated.
• Game state: local values such as wordDecksHideWelcome, wordDecksLastPracticeHand, wordDecksPracticePlayedDate and wd_daily_streak:… remember requested tutorial, practice and streak features. They persist until replaced or cleared. These values do not enable third-party advertising.
• Installation/cache: if you use the installed web app or a service worker is active, your browser may cache game files for loading and an offline fallback. Cache entries persist until replaced or removed with site data; installation does not guarantee every feature works offline.

These are the standard names and lifetimes in the launch configuration. Your browser may shorten them, and cookies can expire sooner when you sign out or clear site data. We use storage for the necessary/requested purpose described rather than reusing it to track you for advertising.

Optional analytics and referral storage

• Word Decks analytics: wd_analytics_id in local storage identifies a browser and wd_analytics_session in session storage groups activity in a visit. The browser identifier persists until withdrawn or cleared; the session value lasts for the browser session. Events may be associated with your signed-in account in our own analytics.
• Referral measurement: wd_referral and wd_referral_session remember an opened share link and group referral activity. They last up to seven days and are cleared when analytics is declined. The cookies measure opens and conversions; opening a shared result does not require allowing analytics.
• Google Analytics 4: cookies such as _ga and _ga_… distinguish visits and sessions. Google’s default expiry is two years, subject to property settings, renewal and shorter browser limits. See Google’s cookie documentation.
• Microsoft Clarity: cookies such as _clck and _clsk recognise a browser and group page views for heatmaps and masked recordings. Microsoft can also use service cookies described in its cookie list; their lifetimes and availability depend on the provider and browser. Server-side Clarity playback normally lasts 30 days; some sessions and heatmap data can remain for nine months.

Google Analytics and Clarity load only after you allow analytics and when enabled for the site. They are not loaded on account/admin pages or URLs containing a query string or fragment. We deny advertising-storage and advertising-personalisation consent signals. Our launch does not enable personalised advertising or rewarded-ad providers.

Changing your choice

Use the controls above at any time, including through Cookies in either game’s information links. No thanks stops future Word Decks behavioural events, removes our analytics/referral identifiers and disables Google collection and available Google cookies. It also tells Clarity that consent has been withdrawn and asks it to clear its cookies.

Withdrawal does not automatically delete data already collected lawfully or cookies on another provider’s domain that this site cannot access. For an erasure request, see Data Deletion. Your browser’s site-data controls can remove remaining cookies and local files; that can sign you out and reset local history, accessibility and privacy preferences. Clearing this browser does not delete your server account.

Other services and changes

If you choose Facebook sign-in, or visit a social or donation website, that service may use its own cookies under its own notice. We do not load Facebook sign-in merely because you open a game. Any future advertising or different tracking purpose will be explained and, where required, offered with a fresh consent choice before activation.
